so my birthday's in eight days. i turn nineteen. whoo. if all goes according to plan in the days leading up to then, i should have a nice birthday present for you all set up here. a gift for you on my own birthday. how selfless can one man be?
my process of aging class is insane, outright insane. the teacher has gone all over the us setting up geriatric homes and making speeches, and has been teaching these last few years. she tells these weird stories during the class. case in point, here's the messed up thing i learned on friday: retirement homes actually have designated rooms with locks where couples from the home can go to have sex. i kid you not. since the personal rooms don't have locks on them, oftentimes workers from the hospital will walk in on unsuspecting, horny old people, and mutter something like "oops, sorry, you can get your sponge bath later." erin, one girl from the class, reported a similar story.
so anyway, i guess a current demand in nursing homes is the inclusion of one (or two. or three. or...) of these locked rooms. studies show that sexual desire actually increases with age. my psychology teach class teaches me this is a "positive correlation." my money is being well spent, you see.

in related news: i started a mixtape for steph's birthday, along with a note, but the stereo at work started recording at double speed, for some reason. i think i'll send it anyway. the second half of side A is going to sound like alvin and the chipmunks on speed, steph. sorry.
as an aside, i started this a week ago, and have only had time to post one review thus far. eventually, i'm going to try to get through my entire tape collection, plus stuff that i rent. for now, van wilder shall have to be enough to tide you over.
