you know, we as a nation really love
to judge things, don't we? i mean, we judge people of other nationalities
(stupid, worthless, immigrants), people who are homosexual (just plain
wrong), people who commit crimes (we're so much better than
them!), people who don't have a job (lazy, homeless, poor). we just
love to pass (usually) undue judgement. beyond other humans, we love
to criticize pop culture. movies, television, music, books, video
games. well, i got to thinking, what if we were to conglomorize our
love of judging people with our love of judging the media?
imagine this, if you will: a television
show that rates people's lives. of course, to work properly, you'd
have to do it at the end of a peson's life, since you can't really decide
how good a movie is by the dailies, am i right? what you'd do is
get together a ton of the guy's friends after he was dead and try to find
out his secrets. then, you'd apply his various experiences to a how-good-did-you-live-o-meter
(this is all early prototype).
ever done heroin? minus ten
points!
i think it could work. you
could get siskel and roeper to come out at the end and say "two thumbs
up!" or "thumb up!" or "no thumbs up!" depending on how good the person
was in life.
i'd watch anyway.
breakfast this morning is mountain
dew with nacho cheese combos and a snickers bar. i am also listening
to the vines album. i like it.
does this
mean i can openly criticize him in public (without the fear of being crucified)
again?
virgin? plus thirty!
own a barbara striesand album? minus
twenty!
and so on and so forth.
