12.22.01:

wow.  finally got a page up on the 'net.  after a hard day of coding, listening to dylan and watching the "almost famous" special edition dvd, i've got it up.  All it took was one wasted day.  and those, sadly, i have in abundance.

ok.  venting.

i sat in journalism yesterday, waiting for the bell to sound, letting me go away, and i overheard an athiest student and a christian student discussing religion.

when i say overheard, i mean i couldn't help but hear them as they hollered across the room at one another.

"christians are stupid, and they base their entire existences around one day - when you die!"

"well, when you die and go to hell, you'll be sorry!"

"what if there is no hell?!"

"yeah, well, what if there is!?"

and so forth.

truthfully, at this point in our lives, as seniors/juniors in high school, haven't most of us made our major theological decisions.  whether or not you choose to recognize god or not, you've made your choice, and most of us will stick to them.

so, why is there always such a huge argument about it?

why don't christians realize that if they stopped trying to convert athiests, they might get some work done in the world?  and vice versa.

if we stopped worrying about convincing other people to follow our beliefs, maybe we could do something about the following things:

-poverty
-homelessness
-war
-crime

but, instead, we stick to our old ways, concentrating on getting others to follow our leads in the afterlife department, and forget about the fact that 20-30 minutes from where we live, in reading, in lancaster, there are soup kitchens feeding people who can't afford to eat.

sigh.

ok.  i'm leaving for a jimmy's chicken shack concert soon with j.

only three days till christmas.  when i work.

yay.
