| DRAGON CON 2001- August 31- September 3, 2001 Here is where it all started the Hyatt Hotel in beautiful downtown Atlanta Georgia. Members of the Fighting 501st from all across the United States and around the world converged upon Dragon Con which resulted in the largest gathering of stormtroopers since Return of the Jedi was filmed. Little did anyone expect the wild times that would be found at Dragon Con 2001. This page is my meager attempt to capture some of those memories and share them with all of you. | THURSDAY- AUGUST 30, 2001- My trip to Dragon Con began in a most unusual manner. Having purchased a very cheap round trip flight to Atlanta on the internet I had to put up with a minor layover in Detroit (thats right I flew from Newark to Detroit to Atlanta) Anyway, as soon as I landed in Detroit I heard a voice say "Hey you must be going to Dragon Con." I guess it was the Stormtrooper Helmet I was carrying that gave me away. Soon we got to talking and my new friends from left to right Rob, Rob, Jeff, Rob and Kate proved invaluable at teaching me how to navagate the Atlanta Airport and Marta. Thanks again guys! |
| After finally reaching the hotel a few quick stops on the Marta from the Airport, I found the guys from Empire City Garrison and threw all my gear in our room. We then went down to the lobby and met up with some of the other members of the Fighting 501st. We then decided to go to dinner at Max Lager's a near by resturant. But before we left I had the great idea to get everyone to pose for the group picture you see before you. |
