       What about Tasuki?  He is obviously my favorite character of Fushigi Yuugi!  He is one of those kinds of guys who pretend to be tough... but if you look at it in another perspective, you would be able to understand that he just doesn't want anyone to hurt his feelings.  Just try living in a family where you have five sisters who are as quick-tempered and sharp-toungued as you are; and you being the only guy.  It's enough to drive you insane.
          Although, Tasuki didn't know that more was in store for him.  Even after leaving home and joining a group of bandits, he couldn't hide that he was a Suzaku Shichiseishi and that he was born to protect one person, and only one person.  That person is the one that he didn't know was going to have a great impact on his life: Miaka.
          Sure, at the beginning, he didn't show much interest in her, kidnapping her only to regain his position, but later on...  If you think about it, in the episode where Tasuki, Miaka, and Chichiri were unable to leave Kutou because they had to save Tamahome, just look at the fight scene...  Tasuki began going on a rampage because Tamahome broke Miaka's arm and feelings.  Quote on quote, he said in the manga, "Miaka no kimochi o konagona ni kudakyotta!!  Zettai ni yurusen!!" (You broke Miaka's feelings to powder!!  By no means will I forgive you!!) I hope that translation's close enough.  He fought and was close to winning, until Miaka woke up and begged him to stop.  He didn't like it, but he stopped fighting because of her wishes.  He nearly got killed, but he thought that it was better than to make the hole in Miaka's heart even worse.
