Lithuania
On Thursday 28th of August I went by bus to Vilnius. The trip was smooth and interesting and on the way I met a Hungarian guy living in Canada for the last 20 years!
I discovered very soon in Vilnius that Lithuanians are more open and less shy than Estonians and Latvians. It was 4 times in a short while people stopped us at a street where we were looking at our stupid maps finding a hostel! But eventually we found a cheap hostel very close the railway station!
Street in Vilnius near the old town!
There are many houses in the old town of Vilnius on the list of UNESCO. This is amongst them!
The sign of Lithuania is the only remaining tower in the old town of Vilnius, there were big celebrates when the flag was drawn up, 20th of August 1991. At right you see the view as it is near the tower!
Postcard I sent to my family from Vilnius
Andras the Hungarian. Andras works as an entertainer, his next show will be in New Jersey 27th of September!
The next day I went to Marijampole, which has 50.000 inhabitants and is close to the Polish borders, there lives Inga, a girl I met in Helsinki last year. Inga lives there with her husband Zilvinis and her parents. Here I got a photo of the big family. From left: Nerenga, Vitalias, Inga, Zilvinis and her parents.
Inga and Zilvinis, in the background Ingas house from childhood!
The next day we all went to Kaunas, the next biggest city in Lithuania, there I am in front of the statue of Gedamino, the one who united Lithuania and made its power reach from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea!
