Mrs Theresia Reis, aged 78 years, relic of Conrad Reis, one of Alburys pioneer business men, died at her residence Glenisla, Wilson Street at 7.30 oclock last evening. Mrs Reis had been ill for several weeks and during that time members of her family were constantly with her.
Mrs. Reis was one of Natures gentlewomen. She was loved by all who knew her and her charity and hospitality knew no bounds. In the welfare of the Convent of Mercy and the Newtown Orphanage, she took an especial interest throughout her life. She was one of the foundation members of the Albury Benevolent Society and for many years took an active part in its good work. Her husband died 33 years ago and a son, Mr. Charles C. Reis, four years ago. The surviving members of her family are: Mrs. T. Horan, Mrs R. C. Hamilton, Mrs. James Hannan and Mr. George C. Reis, all of Albury. Mrs. P. Gehrig, of Cootamundra, is her only surviving sister.
