Another of the hardy Norsemen who did so much to settle Albury, and who helped to make the district what it is, a land flowing with milk and honey, has passed away to his long rest. Mr. George Reis, of Mungabareena, died last Thursday, more of old age than disease, for he was a wonderful hale and hearty man for his great age 70 years; and the funeral leaves the farm on the Sydney Road at 3pm this afternoon. The deceased gentleman, following close on the footsteps of Messrs. Frauenfelder, Rau, Schubach, and other pioneers, arrived from Sydney upwards of 30 years ago with his family, and accompanied by the Dallingers, Gehrigs and others; and with them prosecuted the agricultural and viticultural industries which have built up the fortunes of their families and made our district. During the period specified the man that has gone from us reared a family that remains to bear him credit, and leaves a name for strict probity and good heartedness that makes his loss a burden hard to bear by his large circle of relations and friends.
