EXPECTATIONS FOR WRITTEN WORK

9^th GRADE

 

FORMAT:

 

q      Name, Block, Date, and Title/Assignment in the appropriate place on all work.

q      No title pages with any assignment.

q      Title in correct format (not bold, italicized, underlined, enlarged)

q      Typed work is double-spaced, 12 point font (Times New Roman or Arial).

q      Hand-written essays should be double-spaced and legibly written in ink.

 

 

FORMAL WRITING:

 

q      Avoids contractions

q      Uses appropriate tense

q      Avoids slang and abbreviated language (text messaging)

q      Avoids homophone mistakes (here/hear, their/there/they’re, it’s/its, etc.)

q      Avoids use of first or second person pronouns in formal essays

q      Uses proper capitalization

 

ALL work should be proofread for spelling, typographical, and mechanical errors.
