A/N: This is my response to Stormfreaks Haven Challenge. I had a lot of fun with it. ;-)

Are you still up? Ororo whispered softly into her lovers ear. She expected no response and received none from him. They had made love long into the night and she knew he was exhausted.

Ororo lay beside him, staring at him with a puzzled expression as she fingered his long auburn hair. How she could feel such a confusing mixture of emotions for him was beyond her. A part of her loved him for he treated her like no other man had, with love and respect and when he touched herGoddess when he touched her. Ororo felt her body heat up just at the thought and a shudder rippled through her. Then an image of crimson blood splashed over walls, shredded and broken bodies littering the floors filled her mind and her blood ran cold. Other images of men, women, and yes, even children lying dead; drained of their lifes essence, of their blood flooded, her thoughts.  It was that image that had torn at her for weeks now, had made her realize the monster he was and what she had to do. Yet lying here beside him, remembering the tender way hed made love to her, gave her second thoughts. Could this passionate, loving man, really be the monster shed seen only a few days ago? Could he truly bea vampire? Ororo started to shake her head but one last image ripped through her mind.  It was of her lover, standing over his dead, as casual and unaffected as ever, his gleaming white smile revealing sharp, pointed fangs. A resounding, yes, echoed through her head causing her fingers to flex over the splintered, jagged feel of the stake within her grasp.

She could do it, she could kill him and she would. Love him though she did, Ororo could not let him continue upon his path of destruction, killing innocent lives as he pleased. Ororo knew she was doing the right thing, but everything in her heart screamed otherwise.

Before emotion could overwhelm her determination and knowledge of what was right, Ororo slid atop him and positioned the stake over his heart. Taking a deep breath, Ororo gripped the stake in both hands and was about to drive it home when an iron clad grip closed around her wrist, halting the stakes fatal motion. Fear closed around her throat as she met her lovers eyes and gasped at the bright red fire glowing in their depths. Ororo could feel the unnatural strength of his grip and she knew that with the barest of efforts he could snap her wrist in two.  Why had she never noticed before? Determined not to show her fear, Ororo met his gaze without flinching as he slowly pulled the dagger from her fingers, at the same time pressing a kiss against her hand. She bit her lip, silently cursing him and the effect his touch had on her. Electricity shot from his lips to her hand and up her arm sending dizzying bolts of pleasure through her body.  In one fluid motion he had on her back, his weight atop her pleasantly familiar and before she knew what was happening, he was kissing her with bruising ardor. Ororo tried to remind herself of the monster he was, of the monster shed witnessed with her own eyes, but it was an impossible feat. All she knew, all she felt was the welcoming feel of her lovers caresses all over her body. Everywhere he touched her she burned and any thoughts to resist him melted under the heat of his desireand hers. A moan of surrender slipped from her lips as she slid her arms around his neck, simultaneously wrapping her legs around his waist. His lips placed butterfly kisses all over her face, trailing down her neck and over the swell of her breasts afore returning to her mouth with crushing enthusiasm. He slid deep inside her ready body, taking her fast and hard. Ororos cries of ecstasy were lost within his own as her fingers dug into his shoulders as sensation after sensation bombarded her, building faster and faster. Her body arching up in response, she raked her nails down her lovers back as a flood of pleasure pulsed from the center of her being, before blasting outward like a consuming wave, drowning her in a flood of relentless pleasures. Only a split second before her lover reached his own shattering climax. He fell against her, trembling with the aftereffects of their lovemaking. Ororos breath returned to normal and with it came the realization that she could never kill this man.  This strange demon, monster that had whirlwind into her life, stealing her heart and forever damning her soul. Again she tried picturing the monster she knew him to be, but it was so hard when all she could see was the man before her with the long auburn hair and flaming red eyeseyes full of passion and tenderness and

Abruptly, Ororo cried out at the feel of her lover clamping down on her neck, sending twin pricks of pain throughout her body. Feeling the blood draining from her body and into his she shoved futilely at his chest, but could not budge him as he greedily drank her blood. As he fed voraciously on her, blackness slithered into the corners of her eyes and before she knew it, the cold hand of death had squeezed out her last breath of life.

Lifting his head up, Remy LeBeau eyed his beautiful mistress, brown skin glistening with sweat, silver-white hair fanning out over the pillowsmixing with the blood spilling from her neck. Her blue eyes, which had stared up at him with such tenderness, now did so with shocked horror while her neck now featured two pinpoint holes from where he had bit her. With a sigh, Remy touched her neck with regret. He had loved her, he wouldve give her everything, but. his eyes steered toward the forgotten stake lying harmlessly on the floor and his face hardened, his eyes blazing with fury at the memory of finding the one person he loved most about to kill him. Shed betrayed him. No one did that to him. No onenot even Ororo, especially not Ororo. Unexpectedly, the cold shell around his heart cracked and for a split second agony rent through him like lightening before he shoved the feelings back down with the implacable force of his will and self-control made strong over the centuries.  Touching a finger from his lips to hers, Remy stepped away from the bed, and with a flick of his wrist, sent fire bursting over the bed, engulfing it and his dead lover immediately. With hard eyes and an even harder heart, Remy stared at the fire as he dissolved into mist, his last words whispering over the crackle of the fire.

Sweet dreams.
