Unreturned Love

Despair.... that was all that Ryouga was feeling now. After seeing Akane with Ranma, together once more.
Despite the pair's many protests that they felt nothing for each other, and that they were only friends, deep in Ryouga's heart, he knew, he knew.
They both felt something for each other, something special.
Why else would Akane and Ranma stay with each other all the time? There were many excuses that they gave, that they were fianc�es, that they had to stick with each other because they lived together, that their parents forced the entire thing. But Ryouga knew.
He knew that he loved someone he could never have, someone who meant a great deal to him, someone who held a special place in his heart. The only girl who had ever treated him nicely, treated him as a friend.
�And therein was the problem, he was a friend, nothing more. She wanted and expected nothing more from him but friendship. The thought of Ryouga being a possible suitor never even came into her mind. For deep within Akane's heart someone else was there. This Ryouga knew.
Akane loved another, not just another, but his rival, his opponent, his enemy. Ranma. Neither would admit it, but they both loved each other. This Ryouga knew.
He knew from the little glances they gave each other, from the awkwardness, the hesitation between them at times. From the way Ranma would move heaven and earth to protect her, to defend her. He knew from the way Akane was jealous of Ranma all the time, and from the many tales, the many secrets she confessed to Ryouga as P-chan, her confidant. Ryouga knew, and so he despaired.
He knew that there was love present between them. For too long he has refused to admit this, turned a blind eye to what was really happening between the two. Often taking what Akane says about Ranma at face value. That Ranma was a jerk, a pervert and a playboy. He had used this as his inspiration for constantly fighting Ranma, that he fought Ranma for Akane's sake. He knew now how wrong he was. He had chosen not to read in between the lines, not seen what they actually felt for each other.
It wasn't fair! He loved her, And Ranma didn't!.........

No, Ranma did.
�Ranma did love Akane.
Ryouga knew that, he just didn't want to admit it. But it was so unfair, he dedicated himself to her, while Saotome had three other fiancees!- that Shampoo girl, that Ukyou lady and the crazy Kodachi. He had so many other girls, and yet, why did he have to have Akane? Why did Akane have to love him back? Why? The world is so unfair!!!!
He loved her, Ryouga did, but there was nothing he could do.....
Wait, he had options....

Ryouga was trapped.
He knew it.
He loved her.
She didn't love him.
She loved Ranma.

He loved her.
