Boil pasta according to package instructions. When done, drain the pasta (but don't rinse it) and place in a serving bowl. Add parmesan cheese and toss pasta well.
While pasta is cooking, melt butter in a skillet. Grate the peel from the lemon and add to the butter. Squeeze the juice from the lemon and add that to the butter. Add the minced garlic. Stir well and allow to simmer gently for a few minutes. Remove butter mixture from heat and beat in the egg yolk. Pour butter mixture over pasta and toss well. Top with fresh ground pepper and some additional parmesan cheese if desired.
