2 cans (15oz) pear halves packed in juice (not syrup) 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup dry red wine (use good wine -- Merlot, Cabernet, Pinot Noir, etc.) Juice from 1/2 lemon 1 tsp cinnamon |

Divide the pear halves equally in shallow dessert dishes with the hollow side up. Set aside.
Combine sugar, wine and lemon juice in a saucepan. Put pan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil, stiring constantly. Allow sauce to continue to boil for about 2 minutes, until it thickens, stiring constantly. As soon as the syrup is thick, remove from heat and drizzle evenly over the pears, allowing the syrup to pool in the hollow centers of the pears. Dust very lightly with cinnamon and serve at once.
