| The Assistive Technology Committee was formed in May of 1993. The committee strives to assure maximum student independence within the academic setting through the use of technology. It is also the goal of the committee to expand the knowledge and use of assistive technology within the region in a timely and cost effiective manner. Special education Region III is located in the southwest portion of michigan. The area includes fifteen counties. Within this region are 15 intermediate school districsts who have representatives on the Region III Assistive Technology Committee. The intermediate school districsts include: Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, HIllsdale, Ionia, Kalamazoo, Kent, Lewis, Cass, Montcalm, Muskegon, Ottawa, St. Joseph, and Van Buren. |
| Updates a central registry of equipment that is shared within each ISD. Promotes continuing education by attending conferences and hosting workshops. Addresses issues of funding and assistive networking on a regular basis to stay current on the latest technology. Piloted and refined the Guidelines for Assessing Assistive Technology. Discusses a variety of case studies. Continues the lending of equipment between counties. Provides support for local schools. Share information and demonstrates the use of latest technology among members. |
