Bragi:

Bragi

Names: Proto-Germanic: *Bragan (meaning unknown) or *Bragnam(?) (brain)
Other: Braga, Brage, Bragi, Brego
God of: Poetry, Eloquence, Music
Appearance: Bragi was depicted as an old gray man with a harp, he is intelligent and speaks very civilized.

Bragi is a very mysterious god, he appears in some stories of the Edda and seems to be a god who represents "civilization" or "culture", he was also known to the Western Germans because he appears in some Dutch and German legends too.
It is unknown who his parents are though some sources claim that he is the son of Odin (Wodan) and Gunnlod, one of the few things we know of Bragi is that he is married to Idunna.
Bragi is also believed to have been a pseudonym for Wodan, who is the god of wisdom and often grants poets inspiration, but I doubt this since Wodan and Bragi are mentioned as separate characters in the Edda's, another interesting explanation is that Bragi was originally a human; the famous Skald Bragi Boddason from the 9th century AD who may have later been elevated to the status of a god.
Oaths were sometimes sworn over the Bragarfulli ("cup of Bragi"), new ascending kings drank from it and dead kings were honoured with it.
