| Sushi and Sashimi are two of my most favorite food in the world. I constantly crave for Uni (fresh sea urchin), Sake (fresh salmon), Toro (fresh fatty tuna belly), Ikura (fresh salmon roe), Hamachi (fresh yellow tail), Makajiki (fresh blue marlin), and so on. Sashimi is basically a Japanese delicacy consisting of very fresh RAW seafood, thinly sliced, served with soy sauce and wasabi paste. Sushi is a food made of vinegared rice combined with various toppings or fillings, especially seafood, but also vegetables, mushrooms, eggs or meat. Most, but not all, fish used in sushi is raw; other ingredients may be cooked, blanched, sauteed, or marinated. Sashimi is very easy to prepare; as long as the seafood is fresh, cleaned and washed, you're good to go! Preparing sushi is a bit tricky. First, you'll need to learn how to make sushi rice before learning how to make Nigiri-sushi (hand-formed sushi), Maki-sushi (rolled sushi or cut rolls), Temaki-sushi (large cone-shaped sushi), etc. Here is the video on how to make sushi rice. The following videos will show you how to prepare sashimi and different kinds of sushi. Enjoy! |
