About the Regina Chinese Singers 2002.04.01
Nature: Regina Chinese Singers (RCS) is a non-profit musical
organization incorporated in the City of Regina
Objectives: The objectives of the choir are to promote Chinese choral
music and to enrich the Canadian multi-culturalism via
participation in community cultural activities.
History: RCS was founded in 1982 and has been operational since then.
Core Values:
Fundamental values of the Choir are :
Growth -- learning, commitment and accomplishment;
Leadership -- leading, role model, achieving disciplined, team
pride and contribution to the community and Canada;
Excellence -- artistry, perfection, expressiveness, performances,
presentations;

humour, laughter, compliments to one another, hobby,
experience, musical enjoyment;
Fellowship -- friendship, group dynamics, sense of belonging,
enthusiasm
Membership : Current year active members are about 20

Highlights & Activities:
Weekly practices are held every Friday evening throughout September to June. There are special clinical workshop(s) occasionally for improvement. The Choir staged at least one concert for public audience annually. In the past seventeen years,
our Choir has been active in Music Festival choral competition and performance in local community events such as Regina Multicultural Mosaic Festival, Christmas Rotary Carol Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, and Chinese New Year. The choir also supported provincial formal events and performed in provincial twinnings with China and Canada 125 Year Celebration etc. Also, Regina Chinese Singers had orchestrated joint concerts with other choirs to sing in Calgary, Saskatoon, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Edmonton. RCS
also takes initiatives and cares to sing in local senior citizens homes.
There are frequent social gatherings for members and their families regularly. |
