The Story
It all started in 1994 with Dave and John. John had transferred into Dave's school, in hopes of finding a band. Dave, who had been under a huge Pearl Jam influence, decided to start playing the guitar. All he needed was a band. Soon after he purchased his Cherry Red Fender Squier Stratocaster, Dave started taking lessons. John and Dave became great friends and started a band. Three drummers and two rhythm guitarists later, the Regan everyone knows today was formed.Dan Donahoe joined the band in September of 1997. Prior to being in the band, he lent his drum set to our former drummer. Before long, we decided to give Dan a chance. After a shaky first year in Regan, Dan started to settle in nicely. Regan played several shows and gained somewhat of a following. Then in March of 1998, they recorded and released their first album entitled "Crystal Fish Club." They named it after the studio they recorded it in. They played a few more shows, which included parties, Labor Day Festivals, and various venues. Then in March of 1999, Regan went back to work and recorded their 2nd album. They recorded this one all digital, as apposed to the reel-to-reel method they used on "Crystal Fish Club." They entitled their latest project "Time and Again." This was released on CD. Time and Again wasn't released until February of 2000. Mixing and mastering slowed down the process greatly. By that time, Tim had entered the band and Regan, for the very first time, was a quartet. Regan began to play more shows all around Dupage County. They attempted to record a 3rd album during the winter of '99. Due to complications in the recording process that session was abandoned. Regan during this year alone raised over $1000 for charities. Regan has since met Eric Krueger who has recorded a few live shows and recently recorded their 4 song demo that is being used as a promotional tool. Regan hopes to release both to the public very soon.
The Influences
Regan's influences range from the beefy flavor of Primus, to the smoothed over tones of John Coltrane. Dave, a jazz enthusiast, writes most of the song structures, which are very similar to that of modern jazz. John, being the Primus fanatic that he is, lends powerful, chord-driven bass lines that don't like to stay in one spot for too long. As lead singer, he writes most of the lyrics. Dan, a young Mike Portnoy (drummer for Dream Theater) in the making, is always pushing a strong force upon Regan. Tim, whose own influences stretch from bluegrass to funk, adds rhythm and a little extra kick to the mix. With all of these elements in hand, Regan has created a unique style of their own, but still hold on to what they know and love.

Goals for Regan's future: To become better listeners and free ourselves of preconception and stylistic boundaries
Best show I've ever attended: Actually, two: (1) John Zorn/Masada--Chicago Jazzfest '99. Needless to say, you've never heard music like this before; it changed the way I think about writing forever and turned me on to his immense and diverse catalog; and (2) Wayne Shorter--9/15/00. One of the greatest days of my life-besides being able to meet and talk to him for an hour, Wayne picked some amazing musicians to play with and put on a jaw-dropping show
Where I see myself in 10 years: I have no idea, New York, hopefully
Last Comments: Sometimes it's the notes you don't play that make you good. Make sure you listen attentively in both music and life; your bandmates/close ones will appreciate you much more.
