The unique part of staying at the residence is the opportunity
to see first hand the ordeal the post-ops endure immediately after the surgery. At breakfast some of the girls who had their surgery the previous week were bemoaning the fact they had to wait another day to have the stent removed from their newly formed vaginas. The two days before the stent was removed was by far the most painful. Those girls struggled to find a comfortable position to sit in. It seemed the only comfort they found was in knowing that the rest of us would eventually  suffer the same fate. Rubber donuts (for sitting on) surrounded us wherever we went. I don't think I'm a masochist by any means, but in some strange way I couldn't wait until I was also in need
of my rubber donut.
I spent the rest of the morning waiting for my sisters
to pick me up for lunch. The day would essentially be expended waiting for the time the taxi would take me to the hospital. I went to lunch with my sisters at a nearby restaurant for pizza. It was very relaxing sitting there watching them interact and listening to their stories of staying at the bed and breakfast. My youngest sister had been sick to her stomach overnight. She felt it was probably from dinner, although no one else was ill. I was glad they were there with me and yet I was still feeling somewhat removed from them. I think it was nice for them to have each other to hang on to while I awaited my big day. We went back to the residence where we socialized for a little bit in the afternoon. The weather was sharply colder and I was content to loaf away the rest of the afternoon indoors.
When we got back to the residence we were informed
that Dr. Mnard paid Eva a visit while we were gone. I couldn't believe my ears as Randy told us that Dr. Mnard was giving her 24 hours to get her act together, or he wasn't going to perform any surgery on her. That meant that he was putting her surgery back to Tuesday. One of the two girls who were scheduled for surgery on Tuesday would have to change places with Eva and go to the hospital with me that night. What a relief! I felt sorry for the gal who had to go with Eva, but I was ecstatic I wasn't going to be in the same room with her at the hospital. Dr. Mnard had laid down the law at Eva's expense and that was much to my delight. My sisters left to do some shopping as dinner approached. They would stop at the hospital later on after I was admitted.
As darkness fell on Sunday afternoon it started to snow.
It was picturesque and certainly apropos. It reminded me of what Randy had told me about the day before his surgery, it felt like Christmas Eve. I was feeling a similar excitement. I was a little concerned that it might affect our trip to the hospital. Janet was the other gal who first volunteered to have her surgery on Monday. The two of us kidded at dinner that this was our "last supper". We wouldn't be allowed to eat anything more until after the surgery was over. All that was left was to pack our bags for our short stay at the hospital and do the first of two dreaded enemas that evening. I had been told that my stay at the hospital was being cut to only two days because of tight room space there. That concerned me somewhat, but Linda and Lise both assured me I would be well cared for back at the residence. The surgery was on Monday morning and we were scheduled to be back on Wednesday afternoon.
