The Waiting Game I had a few phone calls Thursday night and a few on Friday. I felt grateful to be there awaiting this highly anticipated event. My sisters were coming up on Saturday along with a TS friend of mine. Friday was a lazy day. It felt great not having anything to do or to worry about. We were supposed to be spending our time interacting with the other residents so we could learn more about what we were going to go through ourselves. Dr. Mnard was planning on stopping by Friday afternoon to consult with the girls who were having surgery on Monday and Tuesday. I really wanted to drive down to the doctors offices in the afternoon to meet the people I had been talking to over the phone. No one knew exactly when Dr. Mnard was actually going to be stopping by. I decided the trip into Montral might not be the wisest thing to do. I didn't want to chance being caught in traffic and miss out seeing Dr. Mnard. I spent the afternoon relaxing and taking a few photos of the other folks there. I felt good being there inspite of my roommates crazy antics---like having a penchant for plugging the toilet. She did insane things to garner attention. In the process all she did was alienate the other residents. Dr. Mnard finally stopped in as we were eating dinner. He told us he was going to be back later in the evening after he attended a dinner engagement. I was relieved he remembered me from our meeting in New Jersey nine months earlier. I could hardly wait to chat with him again about the upcoming surgery. That night a few of us loaded into my car for another trip to the library sans my roommate. We were all getting very tired of her behavior. I checked my e-mails once again and then we headed to a natural food store for some supplies. I needed rice milk for my morning cereal because I steer clear of most dairy products. Breakfast was a serve yourself affair. They gave us plenty of fruit, cereal, juice, coffee and toast. We enjoyed our little diversion for the evening and headed back to the residence. BACK NEXT |
