ABOUT THE AUTHOR
This page obviously is to let you know a little bit about me. I try to be as brief as possible and only include the aspects of my life that I think make me unique as a person.

I am 22 years old right now. I was born on a dark and stormy October night back in 1978. Although I am a full-blooded Palestinian, I was not born in Palestine. Instead I was born in Amman, the capital of Jordan. My grandparents, who were born in Palestine fled the country to escape the terror the Israelis brought with them as they conquered their land. They, much like thousands of other Palestinian refugees, settled in Jordan, one of the few countries that allowed them in.

For the first 5 years of my life, I lived a normal life. My dad worked as a doctor and my mom soon gave up on her teaching career to become a full-time housewife. Then, my dad got a job in Saudi Arabia with Aramco and we were transplanted to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Aramco is the company that controls most of the oil produced in Saudi Arabia which, as you may know, is quite plentiful here in the Gulf. The company built several compounds for its employees and Dhahran is the biggest of them. It is actually a small city rather than your average compound. Over 60,000 people live there! It has an American flavor and is not like the rest of Saudi Arabia. Aramco provides numerous amenities to its employees in addition to the office buildings and oil refineries. There is a hospital (where my dad works), a school, sports complexes, bowling alleys, movie theaters, and even 18-hole golf course!.

You might say that we are not refugees! Refugees live in tents and barely have enough to eat
