READINGS ON REFORMED SPIRITUALITY
Readings on Reformed Piety
compiled by
Tom Schwanda
This listing is not intended to be exhaustive but rather suggestive of the rich treasures of Reformed piety or spirituality. Attempts have been made to list sources that reflect the devotional diversity within the Reformed tradition. Further, the term "Reformed" is used in its theological and world sense rather than denominational. Therefore, Anglicans such as Richard Baxter and J.I. Packer and Baptists as Charles Spurgeon are considered Reformed. In addition to these individual books, many of the writings of Reformed spirituality appear in the collected works of such writers as John Bunyan, Thomas Boston, Thomas Goodwin, Thomas Manton, Richard Sibbes, Thomas Watson, John Owen, Jonathan Edwards, etc. Asterized items reflect my opinion of the some of the best resources for those interested in exploring this subject. A valuable resource for navigating amidst the numerous possibilities of this literature is Joel R. Beeke, A Reader's Guide to Reformed Literature: An Annotated Bibliography of Reformed Theology. Grand Rapids: Reformation Heritage Books, 1999.
