PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY'S ON OUR FRIENDS
THE MALAMUTES
Duane and I have been married for 16 1/2 years and have been through more
than any marriage should have to endure. We were born and raised on opposite
coasts but met in Long Island, New York when Duane's company sent him there for
an assignment. They say opposites attract and that we did.
On July 26th, 1981 while on an assignment in Virginia..tragedy struck. I
was a victim of a robbery/shooting while returning home to our townhouse. Duane
was in the Indian ocean at the time and had to be flown back to the states. We
survived that horrible experience..tho Duane claims that's when he started
getting gray hair. The first Miracle in my life.
In December of 1994, after many tests, I had been diagnosed with breast
cancer that migrated into my bone marrow. I started chemo treatments in March of
'95. I went to the oncologist every week, getting treatments every three weeks.
I had six treatments, which ended in June. My oncologist said all we could hope
for was that the cancer would go into remission; for me there would be no such
thing as cancer free". In October I had my semi-annual mammogram, and in
December I had my annual bone scan, and both tests showed a decrease in my cancer.
Even my Oncologist was overwhelmed with the results. Another miracle in my life!!!
This is a short story of Duane and Jaye..We are proud to be a part of the
Oncochat group and happy to be friends of BarbK and Tyger. They are both very special
people and have done so much for others with their support, kindness, and love.
