The History of Reflexology
The origins of Reflexology date back about 5000 years when the Chinese practiced a form of pressure therapy with a basis similar to that of acupuncture. The acient Egyptians used a similar method in about 3000 BC, as illustrated in a drawings found in the "Physicians Tomb." The feet were being held and massaged in a particular way. The client says, "do no harm," and the replay is "I will work so that you will praise me."
It is reported that Mark Anthony would "massage Cleopatra's feet at dinner parties" in 69-30 BC.
The earliset book on what is known as "Zone Therapy" was published in 1582 by Dr Adamus and Dr. A'tatis t(two European physicians.) At that time many people of all social levels in the middle European countries used a form of pressure therapy. In more recent times there has been evidence that some of the Native American tribes and some tribes in Africa have been using a form of reflexology for years.
