The Boy in the Dungeon

The darkness
Descends upon him
Whole, consuming,
Rotten with malice
Trapped,
Locked in a grimy dungeon,
Without a light,
Without a key.
Lost,
Oh, so lost
Until metal bars
Creak
Surreptitiously opening
And a glow,
A steadily growing light,
Walks closer.
A body of light,
A woman of love,
Takes his hand,
And he is led away,
Led away to safety.
