Silence

Nobody seems to understand
The burden of silence.
I try to be passive,
To put up with your complaints,
And even your criticisms,
But how silent can one be
When she's screaming inside?
Like a volcano under the tension of boiling lava
I'm about to explode
And the ruin left behind
Will be a broken relationship
And shattered ties between us
When I speak you ignore my words
You dismiss my pleas for change
As if they're merely lies
But I really do hurt
Your words really do slice into me
Leaving scars that will never disappear
Someday I will truly hate you
And when that day comes
Don't be surprised
