Satire of Morality

Close your minds.
Close your hearts.
Open a book,
An old, outdated book
Of myths and insane
Tall tales taken as truth
Open that book,
And it tells you
Who deserves to be
Treated as a human,
And who does not.
If you read it properly,
It tells you that
Forgiveness is selective;
Sins may be equal
In the eyes of God,
But not in the eyes of man.

If expedient,
It is quite all right
To hold prejudices against
What you can never hope
To understand just so long
As the Pope and the President
Are of accord.

The Holy Roman Empire
Now lives again, and what
A glorious thing it is
Catholic Kings who burn
Their people for sins,
Because forgiveness is
Never mentioned in their Bible.
Murder is acceptable, so long
As mortal, unknowing men
Say that God wills it so.

We must not obey each
Chapter of this Holy Bible
So long as it serves us well,
And we are capable of
Forcing the masses into agreement
Through fire and sword and explosion.

The war on terrorism
Need only be waged
Outside our borders,
And you must always
Agree with the moral
Majority.
