I Was a Fairy Tale

I was a fairy tale

                                        lost in my own world

spirits  danced

all             around
        me,
bright creatures, and
            I was a magician
the Good Witch of the Midwest
no day ever
                    went by
           when I did not have my
       happy endings

all was right with the world
              good was true;
evil was vanquished

I was up in my tower,
                                  but
                                     my
                                     prince
                                        always
                                       rescued
                                             me.
at the balls, I would twirl

               round
            and round
            and round
secure;

the world was honest and fair.

romantics end up heartbroken.

my tower dissolved around me,

my prince...    vanished.
   love...unlikely
  truth?  I was the liar.
