Down the Hill

Lay in the grass,
On the top of a hill,
Steep,
Long,
Look down
At the valley below,
Turn on your side,
Turn over and over,
Roll and roll,
Air whipping over you,
Grass nipping at your legs,
Hair falling into disorder,
Faster and faster,
Spin onto a stretch of flatness,
Slower and slower
Come to a stop,
Catch your breath,
Let the world straighten,
As the dizziness fades,
And stare up at the hill,
The hill you've conquered.
Stand,
Brush off your clothes,
Ignore the scratches,
Burning on your limbs,
And climb back up.
