| Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon was born in Nashville, Tennessee on March 22, 1976. She got her first acting break in Man In The Moon in 1991, when she scored a leading role when only tyring out to be an extra. Her star status first came when she starred opposite Mark Wahlberg in Fear, 1996. From here she did some independent movies, until 1998 when she starred in Twilight. Following it, she made several 'big' movies including Pleasantville, and the memorable Cruel Intentions, followed by Election (made before Cruel Intentions but released after). In 2001 she starred in Legally Blonde which pushed her back to the forefront of young American actresses, and has recently starred in The Importance of being Earnest (2002) and Sweet Home Alabama (2002).
