Mackenzie never had an easy life. Her parents hate eachother yet refuse to divorce, her mother is a functional alcoholic and her father is a manic-depressive. Neither one makes much money, and they've spent a large part of her sixteen year floating from one cramped apartment to another. She never really had any close friends because her family never stayed in one place long enough for any to form. Despite the adversities that make up her life, Mackenzie is a very strong person who never lost her voice. At times she may seem opinionated, but years of her peers taunting her has taught her that she should never back down, it would only fuel the fire. They had just moved into another apartment when her family receive word that her great uncle had died, leaving a small fortune and a large house behind. The sole heir was her father, John Langschultz. If she could survive in the city, then the subburbs would be easy. With most of his inheritance money, John enrolled Mackenzie into Monclair Academy, a very prestigious private school where 97% of the graduating class made it into their first choice colleges. An intelligent and witty girl like Mackenzie should have no problem adjusting to such a school. Befriended by Jayde, the daughter of the moderately successful painter Matthew King, Mackenzie starts her new life in M.A. Soon she finds herself forever entangled in life of Marcus Cullen, the cruel self-proclaimed leader of Monclair Academy. |
