The Threshold
With most of the season behind us and 2006 ahead, we stand face to face with our resolutions.
The tradition of the New Year's Resolution goes all the way back to 153 B.C. Janus, a mythical king of early Rome was placed at the head of the calendar.
With two faces, Janus could look back on past events and forward to the future. Janus symbolizes the principle of looking back to the past to understand the present in order to shape the future and therefore the god of doors, gateways and the symbol for resolutions.
