The Toy Box

Gotta love toys! And what better place to find them that the World Wide Web.
I do not represent or endorse any business, organization, product, service or practice featured here. I choose sites for thematic reasons or simply for their "Cool-factor."
If I offer something, which interests you, I'm jazzed. If you have a suggestion or comment, please share it!
Previous issues of The Toybox are achived here.

Welcome to my toybox.

Stop Motion Animation

I love stop-motion animation! When executed simply, it has a folk-art charm and when crafted by masters, it's almost overwheming in its detail and delicacy. The Corpse Bride opened this week to feed my craving for the visual treat of the artform and a offer a delicious gateway into autumn and the grand celebrations to come.

Pssst...."Curse of the Wererabbit" is comming soon.

A Bit About Stop-Motion Animation

Have you ever thought of trying Stop Motion Animation?
If you have, or if you're simply interested in how it's made, check out these links.
  • Polymorph Studios

  • A lesson on how-to photograph and edit stop-action animations as gifs
  • StopMotionAnimation.com

  • Have some time to spend? Heres a site to inspire and instruct aspiring animators, from fan, to newbie to advanced. If you have an interest in animation, I cannot recommend this site enough. It's my toy-pic of the week!
  • stopmotionworks

  • Here's another large site about StopMotion animation, operated by animator Lionel Ivan Orozco. He (of course) promotes his own work, and has lots of comercial links, but text-links, at the center of the page has some real gems.
  • Stop motions shorts

  • One of the links gleaned from the StopMotionWorks site. A StopMo movie-clips page, actively updated. Also has a tutorials section.
