National Waiter/Waitress Appreciation Day, May 21, 2004

This is a U.S. holiday, but most of us eat in restaurants. Waiters and waitresses are as varied in disposition as the rest of human-kind, but consider how smoothly a good wait-person sees to the logistics of our meal. They send us back to work on time, orchestrate the pace of a sensual dinner or simply give us a lift with some unexpected kindness or a moment's cammeraderie.
