R 28
The pride of Reefton? This is the only original Single Farlie in the World, there is a replica operating on a narrow guage railway in the UK. R 28 was built in 1878 by the Avonside Engine Co, and worked for the Timaru Harbour board after being sold by New Zealand Railways. After that the R was acquired by the Bukes Creek Collerey for use at their mine shunting. The R was later doanted to the Reefton Brough Council, who still own it now under the Buller District Council. |
