1. The Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff will take place in the Courtyard during lunch on October 1, Friday.

This event will consist of playing various types of hispanic music. Also, each nationality represented at Coral Reef will have their own table to display interesting items from their countries. At right you can see those countries that are represented so far.

You can participate in the following ways:

-Bring any of the following from your country or parent's country of origin:
   *Artifacts: Pottery, Books, Artwork
   *Music: Instruments or recordings
   *Food

-Make Posters or Banners. See below for suggestions.

-Come dressed in a traditional outfit from your country.
-Dance to the music performed during lunch.

You
will receive community service hours for participating in this event.

***Drop of the items in Mrs. Merly's room in the morning. Include your name! You can pick up your items at the end of the day in room 105.
The Following Countries already  have a table:

-Colombia
-Cuba
-Ecuador
-Mexico
-Peru
-Puerto Rico
-Spain
Posters: Please make them colorful and presentable!

1. Countries
On a poster, include a map of a Latin American country along with some facts in brief (population, capital, current issues, etc). Posters will be displayed throughout the school and you will receive community service hours.

2. Famous Hispanics-
   *Include a picture of the person (writer, actor, president, etc). Include Country of Origin and their Claim to fame. Will be displayed throughout the school.

3. You may also construct decorative banners to display throughout the school.
