A short program before the meal was conducted by John Gelhaus.  He asked people to stand or raise their hands to the following:  people from different states, descendants of Earl Reed, descendants of O. C. Reed, people whose last name is currently Reed.  He also asked questions about the first reunion 50 years ago, such as where it was held; names of the 1951 attendees were read; when asked what Eloise (Wickham) Bauer did for the 1951 entertainment, she didn't know, but her sister, Janie (Wickham) Ray, remembered that Eloise did baton twirling.  John then encouraged people to come up with some entertainment for the 51st reunion, or to recruit someone; Janie promptly suggested that Eloise could twirl her baton.
At the request of Deb (Nehring) Terry, a Reed family member e-mail list was started.
John Gelhaus had a 12 page Reed Family Tree packet for people to look over.
