Bootman's Reed Drilling Process
Improves the response of your favorite reeds!

A quarter-inch router bit is used in a drill press. The router bit gives a flat bottom to the hole, and the drill press allows for precise control of the depth of the hole.

Check out the homemade jig, set up to hold soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone reeds.

The finished product. Note the hole's position and depth. Leave about 2 mm of reed at the bottom of the hole.
