| You're So Wrong By (c) Jerry Brooks My Thai Grandmother used to tell me, "With fortune cookies, you have to read the words very carefully because some are really misfortune cookies." Many times, you walk down the same road without a care in the world. You get used to it. Then blam; a tragedy crosses your path, and you're cut off from your future. You might think--if I could read something like a fortune cookie, a shortcut would be exposed. What if you opened a misfortune cookie and the words were not so clear? Now where do you turn? You turn to an investigator. Most people cannot solve a tragedy by them self. There's help from the police, but they just do the easy stuff or the high profile cases. What if your case is different? An investigator can take a look behind the obvious or superficial. A real investigator takes on life good news or bad. This investigator will unravel the confusion and return your future to you. That's what is written on my business card; I read the words very carefully. My door says Answan Investigators, and I work in Chinatown--the bowels of Boston. Chinatown is snugged in-between the Central Artery's shadow and downtown. Not a glorious spot, but oh so close to the expensive areas and the State House. Yet in a different time zone in many ways. You can walk out of an apartment or a business in the rest of Boston, and time moves smoothly. In Chinatown, you can walk back into another time: yesterday, last week, a year or two earlier... it's funny like that. To be continued... |
