Teacher Strategy
Review how like terms are combined together in addition.Also,point out that you cannot add unlike terms together.In multiplication clearly explain that coefficients are multiplied and powers with the same bases are added together. Review both addition and multiplication rules of polynomials because students get confused. FOIL*should be a good way of teaching multiplication of two binomials.Also ask studnets to devise other methods they can use to multiply. In division be sure to go over arranging both dividend and divisor in descending order by exponents.
