Teach students how to find logs by characteristic
and determining the mantissa from their
table.So that students can see how the
characteristic changes,have them determine the
log of 0.4716;4.716;47.16;471.6;4,716
and 47,160.Give students practice determining the antilog
from a table,given the log of a number.Have students compute log problems involving
multiplication,division,and with radicals
without using a calculator.

Have students determine the value of the following using logs.
These examples should cover multiplication, division and the power rule.

Find the value of each expression to three significant digits.Use logarithms.
