Harvesting vermicompost

In about 3 months, the bin will be full of dark earthy vermicompost that must be harvested before it becomes toxic to your worms.  Here's one way to do it:  Skip a feeding to two to let the worms finish off any remaining scraps.  Then move the vermicompost to one end of the bin.  Add fresh bedding to the other end, burying the worms' next feeding in it.  Wait 2 days to let your hungry worms find the food.  Remove vermicompost, then spread new bedding out in the bin.
