Main Character(s):
Matthias - Matthias is a young novice mouse at Redwall who wishes to be a great warrior like Martin the Warrior. When Cluny starts to attack Redwall, he begins a quest to find the lengendary sword of Martin the Warrior so he can slay Cluny the Scourge.
Supporting Good Characters:
Methuselah - Mathuselah is an old mouse who helps Matthias solve the riddles for his quest. Cornflower - Cornflower is a kind mouse who becomes Matthias' very good friend and helps him out in times of trouble.
Constance - Constance is the badgermother of Redwall who protects the abbey strongly and helps Matthias in times of need.
Basil Stag Hare- Basil is a humorous hare who meets and befriends Matthias on his quest, and supplies him with information and helps protect the Abbey.
Warbeak - Warbeak is a young sparrow who has a strange meeting with Matthias, and although they didn't start out as friends, they soon became great ones.
Main Villain(s):
Cluny the Scourge - Cluny is an infamous rat horde leader who has his eye set on Redwall and plans to capture it and make it Cluny's Castle. He is slain by Matthias in battle.
Supporting Bad Characters:
Asmodeus Poisonteeth - Asmodeus is a poisonous snake who is in posession of Martin's sword, so Matthias seeks out Asmodeus to get the sword back. Asmodeus is slain by Matthias.
Chickenhound - Chickenhound is a young fox, son of Sela the Vixen, who tries to steal Cluny's battle plans and strategies with his mother, but is caught and sentenced to death with his mother. He managed to live and go to Redwall, where they accepted him, but he attempted to steal from the Abbey, slaying Methuselah in the process. He escaped the abbey, but them met up with Asmodeus the adder and was bitten.
Mossflower
Main Character(s):
Martin the Warrior - Martin is a mouse warrior and wanderer from the north who stumbles into Mossflower Woods, gets captured by the guards of Kotir and laters escapes with Gonff and helps Corim overrule Tsarmina and Kotir.
Supporting Good Characters:
Gonff, Prince of Mousetheives - Gonff is a cheeky mouse thief who befriends Martin in the cells and accompanies him on his quest to bring Boar the Fighter back to Mossflower to help fight Kotir.
Dinny - Dinny is a very friendly mole who goes along with Gonff and Martin on their journey to Salamandastron to bring Boar the fighter back.
Bella - Bella is the badger daughter of Boar the Fighter who becomes friends with Martin easily and asks him to go find her father and bring him back to Salamandastron to defeat Kotir.
Logalog Bigclub - Logalog is a water shrew who meets up with Martin, Gonff, and Dinny on their way to Salamandastron and helps them on their way, later accompanying them on their journey.
Main Villain(s):
Tsarmina Greeneyes - Tsarmina is an evil wildcat who poisoned her father and framed her brother to become Queen of Kotir, and wants to take over Mossflower and slay/capture the woodlanders. She was defeated by Martin in battle.
Supporting Bad Characters:
Bane - Bane is a fox who is the leader of a band of mercenaries. He and his group traveled into Mossflower, where they helped Tsarmina in her plan to kill the woodlanders and conquer Mossflower. Bane was later killed of Tsarmina's treachery.
Fortunata - Fortunata is a vixen of Tsarmina's horde. She is a healer and helps Tsarmina in various scemes. She was killed by squirrel archers, lead by Lady Amber, squirrel queen of Mossflower.

Main Character(s):
Matthias the Warrior - Matthias is the champion warrior of Redwall, father of Mattimeo, husband of Cornflower, who seeks out to find Mattimeo and the other young ones after Slagar captures them.
Mattimeo - Mattimeo is the young son of Matthias who is snobbish and acts bratty in the beginning of the book, but soon changes his attitude and starts to become a warrior after he is captured by Slagar.
Supporting Good Characters:
Basil Stag Hare - Basil is a comical hare and a good friend of Matthias. Basil accompanies him on his quest to save the young ones.
Jess Squirrel - Jess is a mother squirrel who helps Matthias on his quest to save the young ones.
Cheek Stag Otter- Cheek is a cheeky young otter who meets Matthias, Jess, and Basil and decides to tag along. Basil soon gets quite fond of him, and at the end of the book, Cheek, who is an orphan, gets adopted by Basil and names himself 'Cheek Stag Otter.'
Tess - Tess is a good friend of Mattimeo and helps him realize that in times of need he must learn to act like a warrior like his father.
Orlando the Axe - Orlando is a father badger whose child, Auma, was captured by Slager. Orlando vowed to hunt Slagar down, and soon met up with Matthias, Basil, Jess, and Cheek, and traveled with them, along with Jabez.
Auma - Auma is a young badger, daughter of Orlando, who gets captured by Slagar a while before Mattimeo, Tess, and the others, and befriends them quickly.
Jabez - Jabez is a father hedgehog whose child, Jube, short for Jubilation, was taken by Slagar. He met up with Matthias, Basil, Jess, and Cheek when he had been in an argument with Orlando, and decided to join up with them.
Main Villain(s):
Slagar the Cruel - Slagar, who used to be Chickenhound (see Redwall) is a slave trader and longs for revenge against Redwall and Matthias.
Supporting Bad Characters:
Vitch - Vitch is a rat of Slagar's slaver band. He and Mattimeo become major enemies.
