Audios:
Dance Of The Vampires ;
July/August 2001.
Never before heard on-stage piano rehearsals and
read through tracks from Broadway - With the producers going through the songs,
just running through the lines and teaching the actors. Recorded
through soundboard checks. Some of the recordings on this CD originate
from Jim Steinman's own sound studio. Several versions of 'Logic', 'Books' and
'Angels Arise' are included as well as several read through and playback tracks
(including 2 playback tracks without lyrics of Braver Than We Are and Carpe
Noctem recorded in Stuttgart for Tanz Der Vampire and used in the Broadway
rehearsals for the dance choreography). Bonus track included is the song: A
Girl As Beautiful As She (There's Never Been A Night
Like This) partly sung by none other than Jim Steinman - at least I think its
him! 2CDS (11 tracks on CD1, 10 tracks on CD2) - Full track list is available
by email. Superb quality recordings.

Extraordinarily clear sound from the
audience. As this is from the previews,
it includes some tracks that are not in the later recordings I am offering. The original version of "A Good Nightmare / Never Be
Enough" as well as others recognizable to those who saw the show early on.
Includes John Rando's speech at the beginning.

One note: During the Finale when the

shout that line along with them, otherwise, a perfect recording.

Good clear sound from the audience. I've not
listened to the whole thing, I've skipped around, but the audio seems solid except
for a small skip right before the bite.

Songs only, little to no dialogue, but crisp clear
sound, almost like a soundboard, but I don't think it really is.

Cast: Aleksander di Capri (U/S), Lillemor Spitzer
(U/S), Aris Sas, Werner Bauer
There is some disagreement among Tanz fans on this
cast. Most traders list it as Kevin Tarte and Barbara Kohler, but recent information
I've received as well as a review of official clips I have dug up have
convinced me that it is NOT Tarte and Kohler, but diCapri
and Spitzer instead. A little heavy on the bass, but a solid
recording overall.

Nice recording. I think Nicholson was an alternate
or under study, but I'm not sure. Either way, he's got a nice Krolock going,
and he harmonizes well with Szymanska in Total Finsternis.

some spotlight washout, and
mostly wide to midrange zooms. I'd say taper didn't know the show very well,
but this was only the third preview, so no one knew the show at this point.

Cast: Michael Crawford, Mandy Gonzalez, Rene
Auberjonois, Max Von Essen, Leah Hocking, Ron Orbach, Liz McCartney, Mark

Quality: A- . . . crisp and clear shots, but a
minor amount of spot washout. Also of note, the person who traded this to me
had it on DVD. Now, he was unable to record it to DVD for me, but he included
all of the bonus stuff at the end that was on the DVD. I'd LOVE to get a hold
of the DVD, as it looks to be extraordinarily well authored, a lot better than
I could ever do myself. One other thing, the person who sent it to me split it
into two tapes . . . why, I'm not sure, when if they had used a T-160 it should
have fit, but oh well. Third to last show.
*** I have since put this onto one tape for my own
collection. As a warning to any possible potential traders . . . due to no
fault of my own, I edited it as best I could, but there is a pause in the scene
right near the end of the show, where Abronsius comes out of the inn with the
transfusion apparatus and tells Alfred and Sarah to get into the coach etc, etc
. . . a break where there's nothing but fuzz for a few seconds, then you will
see a blue screen and my VCR trying to adjust the tracking before the show
re-starts. From now on I know to ask people who are giving me stuff on two
tapes to make the tape break in between acts so I don't have this problem
again!***
*** I also have a replacement copy, on three
DVD's, which I do not think has this problem, but I've not sat down and watched
the whole thing yet. ***

This video is amazing, tons of close-ups, crisp
and clear, though there are a few spots where there are obstructions from heads
in the way, I don't think those few times really detract from the amazing
quality of this video.

however, and definitely worth saving.

This is a very solid recording of the show.
Downgraded though due to very minor gen loss, but a little conversion loss as
well from the PAL to NTSC
i.e., the usual problems with conversions. Saverine's Krolock
doesn't strike me as well as Barton's does, not quite as strong.

Some low audio, and pixilation issues, gen loss
and wash out. I’ve seen this listed as Steve
Barton’s last performance. There is a lot of noise from either the tapers or
someone nearby, a lot of screaming as Barton is onstage. On third disk are
clips from German TV of the making of Tanz, and a bonus video of Steve Barton
and Sarah Brightman singing "All I Ask Of
You" from Phantom Of The Opera.

Quality is decent with some generation
loss. I'd call the quality just good, as there are some video dropouts
and speed problems. It was shot from the balcony and I can't remember any
obstructions. It's the only "common" video that I've seen of
Kevin Tarte. Others exist, but I've not been able to get my hands on any
