Sunset
Early, before the heat stole
the dew from the roses,
I gazed about to see that on the
horizon my destiny approached.
Fearful anticipation stirred in my soul.
Alas, with the warmth of the
blazin July sun,
my dearest dream arrived.
He was more dazzling than
my imagination foretold-
passionate
brilliant
wise
inspiring
caring
devoted.

He patiently chased away my demons of doubt,
changed my hesitance to hope.
All things were possible.
As the sun soared high above out heads,
the vibrance of our love grew stronger
and the bond between our souls deeper.
Nothing was beyond the realm of our passion.
We conquered all that sought to tear us assunder,
even the vast oceans of space between us.
We had created an eternity together,
and existence ruled by the power of our souls.

Now the sun sets...not so slowly.
It seems to be racing,
searching for solace in her haven far from the noon sky.
I gaze about to see that my
lover is being pulled away from me with our sun.
The breeze chills my skin and
I am alone now,
not certain if the sun will return
my lover or keep him to herself.
In the cool, dark night my soul cries for him.
Tears of emptiness beckon him to my side.
Only one thought echoes in my heart...
above all love is puzzling and perplexing.
