| DIG THIS RESORTS TO ARSON Tuesday, April 16th, 2002 On Monday, April 1st, all fools were bouncin' to the funkalicious stylings of DIG THIS' participation in the Leader of The Pack II Battle of The Bands as presented by Burst Music (www.burstmusic.net). This was the semi-finals phase of the annual local LA band competition bringing DIG THIS head-to-head with Tres Pistolas, Drop 6 and Kelda. DIG THIS came out with both guns loaded and shot out the competition gaining them a position in the forthcoming finals. Even out of their genre, DIG THIS had Tres Pistolas out on the floor feelin' the funk. DIG THIS pulled in 214/270, beating Tres Pistolas by a small 3 point span. Much respect to themthey kept DIG THIS on their toes. DIG THIS' performance was highly energetic, tremendously entertaining and downright captivating. The highlight for me was Bacon's guitar solo on Pimphat. But, what really sealed the deal was the bands choice of outro as they performed their stanky version of David Byrne's "Burnin' Down The House." The entire set was bangin' but this one really did it for me. Day's vocals offered up his trademark unique style and versatility. And, with Drapey donning his sexy gear while twisting his body to the beat was truly a sight for the ladies. All you had to do was to take a quick look at the crowd to see the bodies groovin' and the heads bouncin' and the ear to ear grins of appreciationnevermind the sea of heads lowered and funk signs thrown up in respect to the funkateers on stage. It was an outstanding performance as we've come to expect from DIG THIS. And, I honestly believe that they will take 1st Place at the finals on Monday, May 6th, 2002. DIG THIS is a group of absolute rock stars and I plan to be there first hand to see what grit they dish out next! |

| DIG THIS Leads The Pack By A Long Shot! Friday, May 10th, 2002 Well now, they said they would and they did. If you missed it, then you shonuff missed out! Everybody who is anybody was at the Leader of the Pack II Battle of The Bands FINALS at The Dragonfly on Monday, May 6th, 2002. DIG THIS took the stage a little after midnight and was in top form in a performance like never before seen. Competing against them were God Money Sex, Abstract Original, Drive Thru Jesus, and Ultrabend. However, to these bands dismay and some mighty upset Ultrabend fans, DIG THIS beat them all down, scoring a whopping 404 out of a possible 450 points. This point spread left the others choking in the dust by at least 20 paces. Bringin it on with some serious beat box at the front of one of my personal favorites Raincoat, DIG THIS basically kicked our hindsides with surprise. As soon as we picked our jaws up from the floor, our bodies were overcome by this monstrous groove. And so was set the pace for this vigorous evening all the way to the end. Like none other before them, DIG THIS energy engulfed the crowd to the point of lit up lighters, a sea of appreciative funk signs held high in the air, and stanky grins from ear to ear while feet stomped and bodies bounced. Ending the set with Oh I, DIG THIS was proclaimed King and took home some nice little prizes ($1000 cash, 8 hours at DreamLink Studios, digital photo shoot, and more) that will help them to finish their upcoming album Ghetto Fairytales. DIG THIS worked hard for this competition, although they appeared to shine through with ease. And, I wish to personally congratulate them on outstanding performances all 3 nights they competed. All that is left to say is Where you gonbe at? cause Im there, standin in front, beamin at the band. Yes, folks. DIG THIS leads again. |
