Yet another British masterpiece, but this really is one of a kind! Incredibly funny and set in 1969 it focuses on two down and out actors who are about to go on a holiday - by mistake to Uncle Monties cottage in the English Countryside! They finally escape homo Monty to return to Camden where Danny the hippy has done their legal proceedings with a camberwell carrot, and there is a huge spade in the bath - and still, NO ONE has done the washing up!!
Acted by masterful Richard E Grant is Withnail, a totally selfish drug obsessed alcoholic "Im not going to be anyones fucking understudy!"
And beautiful Paul McGann as the hilarious besieged "I" - "I told you not to mix your drinks you stupid bastard!" This is a CULT CLASSIC for a reason - it kicks ass!! |
