Throws: Right Bats: Right Born: August 2, 1966 Scouting Report Pitching & Defense While Wakefield still relies primarily upon the knuckleball, he used his curveball a lot more last year, both early and late in the count. He also mixes in a low-80s fastball that understandably looks a lot faster. Like many knuckleballers, he runs hot and cold. He has a good move and a compact stretch delivery, although basestealers still are able to outrun his pitches. He was signed as a first baseman, so he fields his position well.
