2008
Thanks to Linda Harvey, Jackie Gibson, Lyn Daubert,
Julie & Jordanne Broderson and Nancy Eitnier; the bags
have been filled and delivered to the January meeting. We
didn't need Dottie Shuman, Jeanie Horst, Kathy Retherford,
Flora Poulos or Bev Griffith, but they were all ready
and willing.
We had such a wide variety of bags and all were beautifully
crafted and well made. So many thanks to all who
took the time to make them.
We are also grateful for all the toiletries that did come
in. Our members really did keep bringing them in every
month!
OUR SINCERE THANKS TO ALL!
425 tote bags (200 filled ) were distributed in January 2009:
BIRD beginning in the Right Direction, Milagro House,
Domestic Violence Services, Transitional Living Center
Our Goal for 2009 is 200 tote bags.
Unfortunately we only had enough toiletries to fill 200
bags for this years donation, so each shelter (Domestic
Violence, Milagro House, Transitional Living and
B.I.R.D) will get 50 filled bags and 50 empties. We
saved 5 nice, unstuffed bags to give to the shelters' representatives,
who will be making presentations and
picking up the bags.
As we begin 2009 we need to concentrate on tote bags,
but just as importantly the toiletries that will fill our
tote bags. Please keep us in mind as you make your
vacation and/or business travels. Hotel toiletries are
perfect additions to the tote bags because of their small
size and convenience to those in need. Dentists and
doctors offices may also have small toiletries to offer
us. Also, things like paperback books (used books are
fine) would be a great addition. And if you work for
any facilities that manufacture these kinds of items, we
would appreciate any samples or test-sizes that you
might be able to procure from them. The guild would
be happy to write a letter explaining our charitable programs
if that might help in your procurement process.
Again, thank you all...volunteerism makes a guild
strong!

Even though we have reached our 2009 goal for tote bags they continue to come in from our generous guild members! We have gotten so many types and sizes; each one unique in its own way.
MANY THANKS TO THOSE WHO HAVE DONATED!
Our charities appreciate your generosity more than you know.
But our job is not yet done. We continue to need to concentrate on the toiletries that will fill our tote bags. Hotel toiletries are perfect additions to the tote bags because of their small size and convenience to those in need. Also, things like paperback books would be a great addition. We think at this point that we have enough toothbrushes and toothpaste samples because two local dentists have donated generously.
Together we can meet our goal and provide women with some small measure of comfort in a most stressful time of their lives. We hope you will keep us in mind as you consider your charitable donations for 2009.

Dear Red Rose Quilt Guild Members, As part of our mission as a benevolent organization, the Red Rose Quilt Guild sponsors a wide variety of charities. One of the ways that we do this is by sharing the fruits of our sewing skills. High on our list of charities are several non-profit womens support groups, namely, Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster, Milagro House and Transitional Living.
For the past several years we as a guild have made tote bags for these organizations to share with women in their time of need. To further enhance the value of our offerings, guild members have donated hundreds of toiletries to fill those bags. As in 2008, our 2009 goal for charity tote donations is again 200 bags. We ask for your support by making at least two (or more if possible) and donating the toiletries to fill them.
Together we can meet our goal and provide women with some small measure of comfort in a most stressful time of their lives. We hope you will keep us in mind as you consider your charitable donations for 2009. ~~~~Cathy Mead
