How we can help |
BACK PAIN
*** 1 in 3 people develop chronic disabling back problems. 85% of back pain is undiagnosed
***Sitting down for long periods of time can result in postural problems.
***Back problems are the most significant cause of working days lost. |
***Most chronic back problems can be alleviated by safe exercise.
***By strengthening the muscles in the back and abdomen, stablilty of the spine can be achieved.
Our fully qualified instructors will be able to identify postural problems and prescribe exercises accordingly. |
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
***40% of men and 33% of women have raised blood pressure but are not receiving treatment
***The chance of Coronary Heart Disease is dramatically increased with high blood pressure.
***Stress, obesity, smoking and poor diet can all contribute to high blood pressure.
|
***Physical activity has been proven to alleviate symptoms of stress and anxiety, thus reducing blood pressure
***We initiate all exercise programmes with a personal assessment, including a blood pressure check.
***We refer any client with elevated blood pressure to a doctor before prescribing exercise.
|
CORONARY HEART DISEASE
***CHD by itself is the most common cause of premature death in the UK
CHD comes in two main forms: heart attack and angina.
High cholesterol levels, stress, excess alcohol, smoking and sedentary lifestyles are all risk factors associated with CHD.
|
***Physical activity of a moderate intensity lowers the risk of CHD
Currently only 31% of men and women in the UK are active enough to give themselves some protection against CHD.
***We design personalised exercise programmes to turn these statistics around.
|
OSTEOPOROSIS
***Osteoporosis is the decrease in bone mineral density causing skeletal weakness.
***The result may be bone fractures, crushed spinal vertabrae, back pain, loss of height and mobilty and eventually curvature of the spine.
***The disease effects 10& of men and 33% of women, and is now recognised as a mahor public health problem.
|
***Weight-bearing activities have been shown to delay the decay of bone.
***We will create your programme to incorporate weight bearing activities, as part of a balanced plan to help protect your bones from decay.
***We work with the Osteoporosis Society to offer bone density screening.
